India has issued an advisory for its nationals in Iran and also for those who are travelling to the country amid rising tension in West Asia.

In the advisory, issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Indian government said that it is closely monitoring the recent escalation in security situation in the region.

“Those currently residing in Iran are requested to remain vigilant and stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran,” the MEA said in the advisory.

Israel vows to make Iran ‘pay the price’

The MEA advisory comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to make Iran “pay the price” for firing almost 200 ballistic missiles at capital Tel Aviv on Tuesday.

A report by Axios cited Israeli officials as saying that Israel will launch a “significant retaliation” within days that could target facilities and other strategic sites in Iran.

The report further quoted officials as saying that Israel’s retaliation would be much more significant than the limited strike conducted in response to the Iranian missile attack in April.

Iran attacks Israel

On the night of Tuesday (October 1), Iran fired a barrage of missiles into Israel. As per the Israeli military, many of the rockets were intercepted by Israel’s air defence system, while some landed in central and southern Israel.

Residents rushed to bomb shelters as air raid sirens blared and the night sky glowed up following the missile attacks.

Meanwhile, reports quoted Iranian officials as saying that their Fattah missiles, hit 90 per cent of the intended targets, which were military bases.

Iran claimed that their attack on Israel was entirely defensive and was a response to killings of militant leaders and airstrikes in Lebanon.
