Manmohan Singh speaks out against note ban in Parliament, gets trolled on internet

Addressing the members of the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called out Prime Minister Narendra Modi on demonetisation, labelling the move as an "organised loot."

He was also very critical of the handling of the process, saying, "There has been a monumental mismanagement in the implementation of demonetisation. I hope that the prime minister will help us find practical ways to give relief to people who are suffering."

Despite this, the former prime minister’s primary concern was our GDP, which he claimed would decline by 1.5-2 percent at a minimum. Economic experts are supportive of Singh’s claims, but some see this as a political move.

People’s reactions were largely along the same lines as well.

Less rhetoric, more economics!

Maybe we should all take him more seriously…as far as economic policy is concerned at least.

Manmohan Singh’s critics had a lot to say as well.

One even called him a hypocrite.

More importantly, some were just surprised that Manmohan Singh actually has a voice.

Why break the silence now?
