Manipur: Explosives seized in Imphal as police foils bid to disrupt Independence Day functions

Imphal: A large number of explosive materials were seized from Kakwa Naorem Leikai locality here, police said on Monday.

The explosives were seized on Sunday evening as those were gathered to disrupt of the Independence day celebrations, SP Imphal West Themting Ngashangva said.

The explosive materials were recovered from three PREPAK militants following a search operation after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded on Sunday.

The recovered items included 81 numbers of gelatin sticks (power gel), two TNT case (500 grams each) of military grade, six circuits, one remote control device, three mobile phones and five SIM cards, he said.
