Man throws acid on girl at a beauty salon in Ludhiana

Ludhiana: A girl was injured after a young boy threw a acid on her face at a beauty parlor in Ludhiana today where she had gone for her bridal makeup shortly before her marriage. The 22-year-old victim, a resident of Barnala, was rushed to the DMC Hospital where her condition was stated to be stable, police said.[caption id=“attachment_1272847” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Protesting crime against women. PTI[/caption] The boy aged about 25 years managed to escape on some vehicle parked outside the beauty parlor in the Sarabha Nagar locality, Commissioner of Police (CP), Ludhiana NS Dhillon said. The CP said that based on the preliminary details provided by the victim’s family the boy also belonged to Barnala. Dhillon said that the boy used to make threatening calls to the girl asking her to marry him or face consequences. The boy is a brother of a friend of the victim, police said, adding that police parties had been sent to Barnala to nab the boy. “The incident happened between 8-8.30 am today. An unidentified man threw acid on a girl inside a salon. We’ve registered the case. Investigation is on. We’ve got some clues. We are in touch with both the families of the victim and the attacker. Girl’s marriage was decided today only. We’ll be able to crack the case soon,” a police official told CNN-IBN.
