The police have arrested a woman and the man she was having an affair with after the woman’s husband left a 44-minute long video on his phone blaming her and her lover for his suicide. According to a report in India Today, businessman Jayesh Raut (29) hanged himself in his fourth-floor apartment in Sion’s Pratiksha Nagar on November 18 and recorded the death on his phone. In his video/suicide note, Raut held his 23-year-old wife Trupti and 38-year-old Rajesh Verma responsible. [caption id=“attachment_1248729” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Representational image. Trupti and Verma were arrested on November 23 and remanded in police custody till Wednesday. “In the video, he spoke of his state of mind. He said he was truly in love with her, but was very unhappy. He had earlier written to her saying that if he died, she and her lover, whom she had started staying with, would be blamed,” said Rajdoot Rupawate, assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Wadala division, according to an NDTV report. “We have arrested Trupti and Verma on the evidence that we gathered, since Raut has blamed her. Trupti did not even attend Raut’s last rites, after which the family approached us.”
As this Times of India report states, in a similar incident, a 38-year-old driver, Sunil Ugde, hanged himself in his Agripada hutment on October 8 after recording a video on his mobile phone, where he accused his wife and her paramour for driving him to suicide.
