Man hacked to death in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur town, police suspects inter-gang rivalry

A 38-year-old man, said to have been involved in several criminal cases, was killed on Sunday in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur town, said media reports. According to CNN-News18, five assailants arrived in an SUV and hacked the victim, identified as Basavala Vasu, to death. The report added that the incident could be a case of revenge killing. The accused fled the spot after the murder, and the police has launched a manhunt to nab them. The entire incident was captured on CCTV camera.

According to a report on  The News Minute, Vasu was standing on the road after visiting a shop on Sunday evening, when he was run over by a vehicle. After he fell on the road, the assailants repeatedly slashed at him with sharp weapons. Arundelpet circle inspector Y Srinivasa Rao told The News Minute that Vasu’s murder could have been carried out by rival gangs. In a similar incident earlier this month, M Srinivasa Reddy alias Banda Srinu, another youth who had a criminal record, was hacked to death in Guntur district,  The New Indian Express had reported. Srinu’s relatives had found his body lying near a walking track outside Tenali railway station. The miscreants had bludgeoned Srinu to death with a boulder, the report had said.
