Malayalam poet K Sreekumar was allegedly attacked late on Monday in Kerala’s Kollam district when he was returning after delivering a speech at a public function, according to media reports.
ANI reported that six people have been taken into custody by the police is relation to the attack.

All six men taken into custody are members of the BJP/RSS cadre, CNN-News18 reported.

While his car suffered minor damages, Sreekumar escaped without any injuries. He then filed a police complaint at a local police station, the report said.
It added that a BJP-affiliated local Panchayat member was part of the group that attempted to attack the poet. The chief minister’s office has also directed the police to deal with those responsible “strictly”.
