By focussing on local research and development, Samsung is customising products to meet the needs of Indian consumers. This blend of local expertise with global goals supports India’s aim for self-reliance and boosts both local and export production.
Apple’s shift to India: The iPhone 16 production
Apple is changing its manufacturing strategy by moving some production from China to India. For the first time, the new iPhone 16 series, including the premium Pro and Pro Max models, will be assembled in India at Foxconn’s facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. Many Indian workers are being specially trained to assemble these advanced devices, showing India’s rising importance in Apple’s supply chain.
Apple’s shift is part of a larger plan to diversify its production. Currently, $14 billion worth of iPhones are being made in India, making up 14 per cent of Apple’s global production. The company plans to expand this production to include other products like AirPods and iPads, further proving its commitment to India.
