Metropolitan Magistrate Gomati Manocha earlier dismissed the MP’s bail plea on 20 November. The court also directed the Delhi Police to provide protection to the witnesses in the case. The MP moved the bail plea in the sessions court on the basis that the case against him was politically motivated, Dhananjay Singh, who represents the Jaunpur Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested and booked for destroying evidence and violating provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act. His wife Jagriti was booked for murder, attempt to murder and for violating the Juvenile Justice Act after the maid died of injuries suffered as a result of alleged torture. IANS
