In an incident that shocked the Madras High Court, an advocate was attacked in his chamber by his son following a family dispute and was left grievously injured, said the police.
Manimaran was in his chamber when his son Rajesh came there. The two started arguing and Rajesh suddenly took out a sickle and slashed at his father, injuring him severely.
Manimaran, who has been married twice, allegedly refused to help find a match for his daughter — Rajesh’s sister from Maniraman’s first marriage — reports The New Indian Express .
As per the The New Indian Express report, Manimaran who sustained injuries on his cheek, forehead and the back of his head was rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital.
Manimaran has now been declared out of danger, reports NDTV . The report further says that Manimaran’s son was thrashed by other lawyers, for which he was later taken to the doctor.
The Madras High Court is protected by the Central Industrial Security Force as well as the Tamil Nadu police force. The machete used in the attack remains a matter of concern as the court complex has various frisking points and X-ray machines for security checks, as reports NDTV.
