Madhya Pradesh farmer offers tongue to goddess, bleeds to death

Driven by superstition, a young farmer bled to death in Madhya Pradesh after he slashed his tongue and offered it before idol of Goddess Durga in Satna district on Thursday morning. Getty Images[/caption] The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Deepak Kol, resident of Kharhata village, reports The Times of India . Owing to superstition, the police said, villagers failed to intervene and take him to the hospital in time. Only after Kol failed to regain consciousness the next day did the village sarpanch inform the police, reports Catch News . Kol was subsequently taken to a hospital by the police where he was declared brought dead. A case has been registered by the police to ascertain if the farmer was encouraged to do such an act, reports Nyooz .
