The issue was raised by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, who contended government should bring a resolution against Pakistan and this would be passed. Party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar also condemned the resolution and asked the Centre to immediately disapprove of the same. “Pakistan’s resolution in the National Assembly is anti-India… The government of India must disapprove immediately the resolution passed by the Assembly,” Javadekar said on Tuesday. He further said the resolution showed that Pakistan’s “whole politics depends on an anti-India rhetoric”. Pakistan, on the eve of its Independence day, passed a resolution accusing Indian troops of “unprovoked aggression” on the LoC and also extended its support to the “struggle” of the Kashmiri people. The resolution, moved by Pakistani Science and Technology Minister Zahid Hamid, a senior leader of the ruling PML-N in Pakistan, condemned the “unprovoked aggression by Indian military forces across the LoC in recent days” and reiterated that Pakistan “shall continue to extend diplomatic, political and moral support for the just and legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people.” “This House unanimously condemns the unprovoked aggression by Indian military forces across the LoC in recent days.. It also condemns the attacks on the Pakistan High Commission and the demonstrations outside the PIA offices in New Delhi, and the efforts to prevent the Friendship Bus from proceeding to Pakistan. It deplores the unjustified public vilification of Pakistan in the Indian media,” the resolution read. Violating the ceasefire for the ninth time in the past four days, Pakistan targeted 16 Indian forward posts in Hamirpur, Balakote and Mankote forward areas in Poonch throughout the night. “Pakistani troops fired on Indian posts along the LoC in Hamirpur-Balakote and Mendhar forward areas in Poonch district last night” Defence Spokesman SN Acharya said on Wednesday. Eight posts manned by the troops of 605 Mujahid Regiment troops of Pakistan Army, were involved in the firing on Indian posts, Army officials said. This is the ninth ceasefire violation by Pakistan in the past four days.
