The incident, which took place on 22nd anniversary of Parliament attack, has raised several eyebrows as such a lapse shouldn’t have happened in the first place, given the three-tier security at Parliament. The first check is conducted at the entry gate of Parliament premises which is followed by metal detectors and hand-held metal detector frisking. The same drill is repeated at entry gate of Parliament building with an additional security also present in the corridor that leads to various visitor galleries. As a protocol, individuals are not even allowed to carry cell phones inside the gallery. According to reports, two people who were present in the visitor’s gallery allegedly burst smoke canisters inside the House. Reports said one of the visitors, who jumped into Lok Sabha chamber from gallery, was seen leaping over benches. Meanwhile, an anti-terror unit of the Delhi Police has arrived at the Parliament to question the intruders. On December 13, 2001, terrorists of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed outfits attacked the Parliament complex, killing nine people. All five terrorists were gunned down by the security forces.
