Janata Dal (Secular), or JD(S), will be contesting three seats in Karnataka in the Lok Sabha 2024 election as part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
“In today’s core committee meeting of the party, discussions were held on upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The JDS-BJP alliance was also discussed. We are fielding only 3 candidates in this election,” JD(S) leader and former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy said.
“NDA alliance will win this election and again Narendra Modi will become the prime minister,” Kumaraswamy said.
Who from JD(S) is likely to contest these seats?
Though the formal announcement of the list is awaited, as per reports, Kumaraswamy is expected to contest from the Mandya district.
“BJP leaders have advised me to contest from Mandya. Most of the workers requested me to file my nomination from Mandya. Ultimately, the evening I have requested former MLAs to participate in the meeting. We will decide and announce at 5 pm,” he said.
Revanna, grandson of former prime minister and JD(S) patriarch HD Deve Gowda is expected to be fielded from Hassan, as the joint candidate of the BJP-JD(S). Hassan is the home turf of Deve Gowda.
“I am confident that both the BJP and JD(S) will work cohesively in Karnataka to further strengthen the developmental vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Revanna said.
