Local MIM leader in Anantpur accused of raping a minor girl

Anantpur: Police in Kadiri town of the district have registered a case against a man, a local leader of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (MIM), for allegedly raping a minor girl. Reuters[/caption] The case was registered against CMD Eliaz (43) on a complaint filed by a minor Muslim girl under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, last night. According to the girl, a Class 10 student, Eliaz had once rescued her from eve-teasers. Later he befriended her and raped her, she told the police. The complaint was filed after her mother found out about the whole affair. The accused was absconding, said police officer A Dvadanam. Meanwhile, some local organisations staged a demonstration, demanding a quick action in the case. PTI
