Anti-superstition activist Narendra Dabholkar was on Tuesday shot dead by unknown assailants while on a morning walk. His body was found in a pool of blood at Omkareshwar bridge in Pune.

2.45 pm: Maharashtra clears anti-black magic ordinance A day after activist Dabholkar was murdered in Pune, the Maharashtra cabinet cleared the anti-black magic ordinance, CNN-IBN reported. 11.55 am: Lukewarm response to protests in Pune CNN-IBN reports that the protests called by various political parties in Pune received a lukewarm response from the people. https://twitter.com/ANI_news/status/370069296564539392 10.00 am: Bandh in Pune over murder of Dabholkar Political parties in Pune called for a bandh in the city over the murder of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar. NDTV reports auto-rickshaws will stay off the road from 10 am to 5 pm,  commercial establishments will remain closed while schools and essential services won’t be affected. 9.45 am: Police release sketch of suspect Maharashtra police have released a sketch of the suspect behind the attack on Dabholkar. The suspect at the time of crime was wearing a blue and grey check shirt and was riding a black splendor. The suspect is approximately 26 years old and around 5 ft 7 inches in height. He has also been described as having a scar on his cheek. No arrests have been made yet.  Read more here. They vowed to continue Dabholkar’s movement to get the anti-superstition and black magic bill passed. In Nashik, activists of various political organisations and that of Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti, the outfit headed by Dhabolkar gathered at the Hutatma Smarak in front of the collectorate to condemn Dabholkar’s killing and also took out a peaceful march in which a large number of youth participated. Anti-superstition activist Narendra Dabholkar was on Tuesday shot dead by unknown assailants while on a morning walk. His body was found in a pool of blood at Omkareshwar bridge in Pune. Dabholkar was at the forefront of a campaign to persuade the Maharashtra government to pass an anti-superstition and black magic bill.
