Lawyers attacked media persons with stones and had to be dispersed with tear gas outside the city civil court in Bangalore today. The lawyers even put police vehicles on fire besides destroying vehicles of media personnel. The vandalism of advocates in city civil court has claimed the life of a police constable, who is suspected to have died of injuries, reported The Times of India. Media persons were present outside the court house as former Karnataka tourism minister and mining baron G Janardhana Reddy was produced before a special CBI court today. Screen grab from CNN-IBN”]  [/caption] However, after Reddy was produced in court and taken away, lawyers reportedly objected to the presence of media in the court complex and then assaulted some of them. CNN-IBN said the lawyers began to verbally abuse the journalists and also then began to pelt stones at the journalists. Television channels showed lawyers physically assaulting journalists. Going on a rampage, the lawyers also pelted stones at a government college located near the court, triggering protests from students. Journalists who were injured were taken away to nearby hospitals for treatment. The lawyers also damaged vehicles and equipment of journalists from television channels. A police official also sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police dispersed the protesting lawyers using batons and also had to use tear gas. Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said he had asked law minister S Suresh Kumar to look into the issue. with inputs from PTI
