Keran operation complete but infiltration bids will increase: Indian Army

The Indian Army on Tuesday said the 14-day Keran operation has been completed and bodies of eight terrorists as well as heavy arms and ammunition have been recovered. Ground forces would now be redeployed for surveillance in the area, he said, adding that there was no need for an inquiry as it was an ongoing operation. “After seven searches in the area, I have now called off the physical search.. the sanctity of the LoC has been maintained and it can never be trampled with,” Chachra said. Speaking about the operation, Chachra said the army managed to recover 59 weapons, night vision devices as well as rations. He also said that infiltration bids would continue and possibly increase as winter approaches. “This was a desperate infiltration bid… with the onset of winter, more such attempts are being made, but we are prepared,” he said He also denied that any abandoned Indian Army posts were occupied by terrorists. “No Indian posts were occupied by terrorists.. These were speculations,” the senior army official said. Earlier today, Army Chief General Bikram Singh speaking to Times Now said it was impossible for any terrorist to act in Pakistan without the knowledge of the Pakistan army. “The terrorists are sitting in a ’nallah’ and a desperate infiltration bid has been foiled there.. no terrorist activity can take place without the knowledge of the Pakistani army,” Singh said.
