Kashmir violence: MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi calls for all-party meeting to discuss solutions

Hyderabad: Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday urged the Centre to call an all-party meeting regarding the violence in the Kashmir Valley. The Hyderabad MP said the meeting should be called to discuss how to end the cycle of violence and to show empathy following street protests that have claimed 32 lives. PTI[/caption] The Valley has been in the grip of violence since Friday after security forces shot dead a top militant, Burhan Wani. In a series of tweets, the MIM president asked why the Modi government abandoned the peace process. “Why has the Modi government abandoned process which was started by Vajpayee government on Kashmir, ie development to isolate separatists,” he asked. He said Pakistan had no right to interfere in the internal affairs of India. “Better they do their own introspection,” he added. The MIM leader also found fault with National Conference leader and former chief minister Omar Abdullah, who has criticised the handling of the situation by the present government. Owaisi said Omar Abdullah was clueless and inactive in 2010 when 110 people were killed.
