“The NIA has also questioned Jyoti Malhotra. Other agencies are also probing her," he said.

According to the police investigation, Malhotra was originally introduced to Pakistan embassy official Danish by Harkirat Singh, an employee of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (SGMC).

Harkirat Singh reportedly assisted her twice in obtaining a visa and sent her to Pakistan with a Sikh jatha. Indian Sikhs frequently travel as part of jatha to gurdwaras such as Nankana Sahib for pilgrimage. Officials said his digital gadgets, including mobile phones, had been confiscated and forwarded for forensic examination.

According to the investigation, Malhotra has been in contact with a number of Pakistani nationals since her first visit to the country in 2023. Ehsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish, appears to be her principal contact.
