J&K floods: 16-year-old Indian boy in Kuwait collects Rs 2 lakh for relief

An Indian student in Kuwait has collected over Rs two lakh for humanitarian assistance to the flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir, where millions of people have been impacted by the worst floods in over a century.

Dubai: An Indian student in Kuwait has collected over Rs two lakh for humanitarian assistance to the flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir, where millions of people have been impacted by the worst floods in over a century.

D R Pratyusha, a 11th standard student of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan school, collected 1001.250 Kuwaiti dinars (Rs 212,489) from people by putting in his own efforts in Kuwait and donated to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the relief and rehabilitation of those affected by the unprecedented floods in the state.

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait yesterday said in a statement that it highly commends such humanitarian efforts shown by a young Indian national in Kuwait. Indian community members and organisations are collecting funds and material relief for those affected in the flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir.

Floods triggered by incessant rain in Jammu and Kashmir in the first week of September has caused widespread damage to property and infrastructure in the state. The devastating floods that hit Jammu and Kashmir has been described as the worst in 109 years.
