Jammu court awards death to man who raped 7-year-old girl

Jammu: A fast track court here on Tuesday awarded the death penalty to a man convicted of the rape of a seven-year-old girl in 2010. Agencies.[/caption] The fast track court, headed by District and Sessions Judge Sanjiv Gupta, sentenced to death Shankar, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, who was convicted of the rape of the minor. Shankar was staying in Jammu city in 2010 when he committed the crime. The court also asked the state government to give cash compensation of Rs.200,000 to the victim’s family. IANS
