However, IIT Guwahati told students that getting a rank in JEE Advanced 2016 would not ensure their admission into any IIT or ISM. The authorities added that rank lists will be prepared based on the aggregate marks in JEE (Advanced) 2016. Around 36,566 students have been qualified for admissions into the country’s leading IITs, Of these 31,996 are boys and 4,570 are girls. Riya Singh from Kota is the topper among girls with an all-India ranking of 133. This year there are four new IITs — Chhattisgarh, Jammu, Karnataka and Goa — and there are 10,575 seats across India. There are almost 569 more seats this year than the last. Apart from IITs, admissions on the basis of this exam are granted to other institutes like Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Rae Bareli Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), Visakhapatnam, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram.
