 "Jaipur's Aman Bansal tops JEE Advanced 2016: 17-year-old says regular studies are key")
On Sunday morning, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced results were announced on its official website — jeeadv.ac.in. Seventeen-year-old Aman Bansal from Jaipur topped the exam, organised by IIT Guwahati, in collaboration with the Joint Admission Board 2016_._ Bhavesh Dhingra of Yamuna Nagar (Haryana) came in second and Kunal Goyal, who studied at Allen Career Institute’s Jaipur centre, bagged the third place. PTI[/caption] Speaking to Hindustan Times, Aman Bansal told the publication that he rigorously regularly studied for five-six hours everyday. “I studied for around 5-6 hours daily for success in JEE Advanced," he said. “Students should clear their doubts immediately … during classes.” Aman Bansal took coaching from Kota-based Allen Career Institute and scored 320 to clinch the top spot in the examination. The Jaipur-based student hopes to study computer science from IIT Mumbai. When asked about his success mantra in an interview with Hindustan Times, he said that regular studies and self-belief are the keys to success. Bansal scored full marks in mathematics. The 17-year-old, a student of Jai Shri Periwal School in Jaipur’s Chitrakoot, had scored 96.2 percent in his Class 12 board exams. There weren’t too many reactions on social media but a few who tweeted wishing Bansal were worth it. Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot offered Bansal their congratulations on Twitter.

Almost 1,98,228 candidates had cleared the JEE (Main) examination which was held in 132 cities. However, IIT Guwahati told students that getting a rank in JEE Advanced 2016 would not ensure their admission into any IIT or ISM. The authorities added that rank lists will be prepared based on the aggregate marks in JEE (Advanced) 2016. Around 36,566 students have been qualified for admissions into the country’s leading IITs, Of these 31,996 are boys and 4,570 are girls. Riya Singh from Kota is the topper among girls with an all-India ranking of 133. This year there are four new IITs — Chhattisgarh, Jammu, Karnataka and Goa — and there are 10,575 seats across India. There are almost 569 more seats this year than the last. Apart from IITs, admissions on the basis of this exam are granted to other institutes like Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Rae Bareli Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), Visakhapatnam, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram.
