52% students score above 60%, secure first division

In the Class 10 exam results, 52 percent students secured the first division. 42 percent students secured the second division, scoring between 45 and 60 percent marks. Six percent students stood in the third division.

Owing to the coronavirus lockdown, marksheet evaluation was conducted from 28 May till 25 June.

Boys outshine girls for second year in a row

Of the over 1.8 lakh boys who appeared for the Class 10 board exams, 75.88 percent emerged successful. Meanwhile, girls registered a lower pass percentage, with 74.25 percent of the over 2.04 lakh girls clearing the exam.

Koderma best-performing district, lowest pass percentage in Pakur

The Koderma district registered the highest pass percentage at 83.064, while Pakur was registered the lowest figure at 63.987 percent.

Ranchi was the second best performing district, with a pass percentage of 80.052.

In the Class 10 exams held for the academic year 2019-20, 75.01 percent students passed, registering the highest pass percentage in five years.

Pass percentages for last five years:

2015: 71.20%
2016: 67.54%
2017: 67.83%
2018: 59.56%
2019: 70.81%

Toppers’ list will not be released

The list of students who topped the Jharkhand Board’s Class 10 exams will not be released, according to reports.

Last year, Priya Raj, a student of Indira Gandhi Residential Girl School in Hazaribagh, had secured the top position in JAC Class 10 board exams with 99 percent.

Jharkhand Board declares Class 10 results

After a brief delay, the Jharkhand Academic Council announced Class 10 exam results through a press conference addressed by the state education minister Jagarnath Mahto.

Results can be checked on alternative website, as jac.jharkhand.gov.in and jac.nic.in have become unresponsive.

The Jharkhand Board was expected to announce Class 10 at 1 pm. However, the press conference has been delayed as the education minister is yet to arrive at the board’s office in Ranchi, according to News18.

The Jharkhand Academic Council broadcasted the evaluation process live through CCTV cameras, according to Indian Express. This was done in order to ensure social distancing norms were being followed at evaluation centres.

At least 60% marks needed to secure first division

As per a 2019 announcement, students who score 60 percent and above marks are awarded a first division, whereas those who score 45 percent and above but below 60 percent are awarded a second division. Students who score 33 percent and above but below 45 percent are awarded a third division.

Priya Raj topped Class 10 exams last year with 99%

Priya Raj, a student of Indira Gandhi Residential Girls School in Hazaribagh, secured the top position in JAC Class 10 board exams in 2019 with 99 percent.

Palamu was the best-performing district with 79.74 pass percentage, followed by Giridih (79.17 percent) and Hazaribagh (77.54 percent).

Pass percentage was 70.77% in 2019

In last year’s Class 10 exams, 70,77 percent students had passed, a marked improvement over the pass percentage in 2018, which stood at 52.48.

In 2019, boys performed better than girls, registering a pass percentage of 72.99 percent. 68.67 percent girls cleared the Class 10 exam.

Minimum 35% marks needed to clear Class 10 exams

Students need 35 percent marks in each paper to clear the Class 10 exams. The students who fail to pass the exams can appear for the Jharkhand Board Compartmental or Improvement Exams.

Coronavirus outbreak delayed evaluation

As the number of coronavirus cases grew in India and a lockdown was imposed on 24 March, the declaration of Jharkhand Class 10 results was delayed. Evaluation of answer sheets began on 28 May and ended on 25 June.

JAC to announce Class 10 result at 1 pm

The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) will release the class 10 exam results at 1 pm on its official website –  jacresults.com .

Around 3.8 lakh students had appeared for the exams held this year from 11 till 28 February.
