Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Thursday announced that the Supreme Court would soon come under the National Judicial Data Grid platform which will enable real-time information on pendency of cases.
Calling it a historic day, CJI Chandrachud said the platform has been announced in a bid to bring transparency and accountability in the judicial system. “It is a historic day. It is a unique platform which has been developed by the NIC and the in-house team of the Supreme Court. Now, at the click of a button, you can see real-time information on the pendency of cases, year-wise, total pendency of registered and unregistered cases, number of cases decided qoram-wise,” said the CJI. The National Judicial Data Grid is a database of orders, judgments and case details of 18,735 District and Subordinate Courts and High Courts created as an online platform under the eCourts Project.
