Ishrat Jahan case: CBI declares cash price for info on Rana, Johar

Srinagar/New Delhi: CBI has announced a cash reward of Rs five lakh for anyone who gives credible information on the “real identities” of Zishan Johar and Amjad Ali Rana who were killed in Ishrat Jahan fake encounter incident. “We have announced a reward of Rs five lakh for anyone who can come forward and give credible information about Johar and Rana who were killed along with Ishrat Jahan. The identity of the person would be kept confidential,” CBI spokesperson Dharni Mishra said in New Delhi. Ibnlive](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/cbi-ibnlive46.jpg) Image for representation only. Ibnlive[/caption] CBI published an advertisement in Urdu papers of Jammu and Kashmir with photographs of Johar and Rana who were killed in 2004 in Ahmedabad along with Ishrat and Javed in an operation conducted by Gujarat Crime Branch which has been alleged to be fake. “The two persons in pictures above are said to have been killed in an encounter with police in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on 15 June, 2004. CBI is investigating the case. If anyone provides the real identity of these persons or substantial information about them, he will be given a cash reward of Rs five lakh,” the advertisement had said. The Gujarat Police had claimed in its FIR that Johar and Rana were actually Pakistani citizens who had come to India to eliminate VIPs of the state. CBI, which is probing the case, has been able to get detailed information about Ishrat and Javed as it included the statements of their relatives and people known to them in the charge sheet filed on July three. It has so far not been able to reach any conclusive point on the identity of Johar and Rana. CBI has in its charge sheet neither given any details about the antecendents of the duo nor the motive of their presence in Gujarat. CBI is likely to file a supplementary charge sheet in the case once it is able to unravel the conspiracy which led to the encounter. PTI
