A 39-year-old IPS officer, who came into the limelight last year for allegedly slapping a BJP worker in Kota over his misbehavior, died on Sunday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Jaipur.

Jaipur: A 39-year-old IPS officer, who came into the limelight last year for allegedly slapping a BJP worker in Kota over his misbehavior, died on Sunday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Jaipur. Devashish Deo, a 2013-batch officer, was posted as deputy director at the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA), a police spokesperson said. He had in January suffered serious head and spinal injuries after the chair he was sitting in gave way at Brahma Temple in Ajmer district. He was admitted to a government hospital in Pushkar and was later referred to Fortis Hospital. He was then shifted to Imperial Hospital where he breathed his last. He was left paralysed due to the injuries, he said. Deo had shot into limelight last year when he had allegedly slapped a BJP worker in Kota over misbehaviour.
