A massive fire has engulfed the country’s largest paper mill, Khanna Paper Mill in Punjab, around 1pm today putting the entire 100-acre facility under flames. No casualties have been reported so far. [caption id=“attachment_341360” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“Fire fury. PTI”]
[/caption] Around 40 fire tenders are struggling to douse the fire. The army has been called in to help. The mill had 70,000 tonnes of newsprint, which is highly inflammable, when the fire started. The loss could be to the tune of Rs 250 crore, a NDTV report said. The mill came into limelight recently for exporting newsprint to Pakistan via the Wagah border. Fire officials said it may take two to three days to put out the fire completely.
