Ops still ongoing: Indian Air Force announces success of Operation Sindoor

The Indian Air Force on Sunday released a statement about Operation Sindoor and said that the Indian mission is “still ongoing”. The statement came a day after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire after four days of intense escalation.

In the statement, the Air Force said that it executed tasks in Operation Sindoor successfully. They also noted that since the operations are still underway, a briefing will be conducted soon.

“The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully executed its assigned tasks in Operation Sindoor, with precision and professionalism. Operations were conducted in a deliberate and discreet manner, aligned with National Objectives,” the Air Force said in a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Since the Operations are still ongoing, a detailed briefing will be conducted in due course. The IAF urges all to refrain from speculation and the dissemination of unverified information,” the statement further reads.

On May 7, the Indian forces conducted Operation Sindoor against nine terror camps in Pakistan. The operation was seen as a response to the devastating Pahalgam attack that led to the death of 26 tourists in Kashmir on April 22.

The statement from the IAF came barely a day after the US claimed to have brokered a peace deal between the two nuclear-armed nations. However, the fragile truce lasted for only a few hours before Pakistan started heavy shelling along the International Border in the Rajouri sector and Srinagar.

Explosions were also heard in Srinagar and Baramulla on Sunday evening, prompting Jammu and Kashmir Chief Omar Abdullah, to write, “What the hell just happened? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!” While there has been calm in the region, security remains tightened on both sides of the border.
