Nayab Singh becomes Haryana CM following Khattar’s resignation

Nayab Singh Saini, BJP MP from Kurukshetra will be Haryana’s new Chief Minister. His name was decided during the BJP’s meeting on Tuesday held after Manohar Lal Khattar resigned from the post in the morning.

Saini will be the chief minister of Haryana for the next nine months before the state goes to poll later this year.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar along with his cabinet on Tuesday submitted their resignation ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The development comes amid speculations that the BJP and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) will part ways. Sources say Nayab Saini or Sanjay Bhatia are likely to replace him.

PM Modi launches Rs 85,000 crore railway projects in Ahmedabad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of Rs 85,000 crore railway projects, including the launch of 10 new Vande Bharat trains. The PM launched the projects from Sabarmati area of Ahmedabad in Gujarat after visiting the Dedicated Freight Corridor’s (DFC) Operation Control Centre in Ahmedabad. He also flagged off the extension of four Vande Bharat trains. The PM also flagged off two new passenger trains between Asansol and Hatia & Tirupati and Kollam stations. PM Modi also flagged off freight trains on the DFC from various locations - New Khurja Junction, Sahnewal, New Rewari, New Kishangarh, New Gholvad, and New Makarpura. He dedicated 50 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras at various railway stations. These centres will offer affordable and quality generic medicines to the people.  The PM also dedicated to the nation 51 Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminals, which will promote seamless movement of goods between different modes of transportation.

PM Modi to witness tri-services’ firepower in Rajasthan’s Pokhran today

Stage is set in the arid terrain of Rajasthan’s Pokhran for the mega exercise ‘Bharat Shakti’ on Tuesday, which will demonstrate the prowess of indigenously manufactured defence equipment of the three services. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will witness the integrated tri-service firepower and manoeuvre exercise that will be held for about 50 minutes. The country’s top military brass will also be present on the occasion. LCA Tejas, ALH Mk-IV, LCH Prachand, mobile anti-drone system, BMP-II and its variants, NAMICA (Nag Missile Carrier), T90 tanks, Dhanush, K9 Vajra and Pinaka rockets are among the platforms that will be demonstrated.

Mallikarjun Kharge likely to skip Lok Sabha contest

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge is unlikey to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, according to a report. According to an NDTV report, amid the unease in the party over his decision, the Congress veteran has pointed out that he needs to take care of the big picture without getting involved in his own personal campaign. Kharge was the one unanimous name in the candidates’ list for Karnataka that was discussed last week for the Gulbarga constituency. But he is likely to nominate his son-in-law Radhakrishnan Doddamani, added the report, citing sources.

PM Modi to flag off two new Vande Bharat Express Trains from Visakhapatnam today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off two more Vande Bharat Express trains from Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam via video conferencing on Tuesday. The two new trains will operate between Visakhapatnam-Puri and Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad. With this, the total number of Vande Bharat Express trains operational from Visakhapatnam will be three.During the occasion, PM Modi will also inaugurate completed portions of railway line doubling projects and other infrastructural developments, which will enhance train connectivity and contribute to the overall development of the region. ‘One Station, One Product’ stalls over the division will also be dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister.
