Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed the work done by his government in the last 10 years is just a “trailer”, saying that a lot more is yet to come.
Addressing an election rally in Rajasthan’s Churu ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, he said “no matter how much has happened, whatever has happened till now is a trailer. What Modi has done so far, it was just an appetiser and the main course is still to come”.
Cong promises right to apprenticeship, raise 50% cap on quotas in manifesto
Right to apprenticeship, a legal guarantee for MSP, and passing a constitutional amendment to raise the 50 per cent cap on reservations for SCs, STs and OBCs are among the promises made by the Congress in its manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls released on Friday.
The manifesto, titled Nyay Patra’, was released at the AICC headquarters in the presence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. It focused on five ‘pillars of justice’ and 25 guarantees under them.
The opposition party promised to fill nearly 30 lakh vacancies in sanctioned posts at various levels in the central government. The party also said it would implement 10 per cent quota in jobs, educational institutions for economically weaker sections (EWS) for all castes, communities without discrimination if it comes to power. The Rajasthan model of cashless insurance of up to Rs 25 lakh will be adopted for universal healthcare, it said.
ECI issues notice to Chandrababu Naidu for “derogatory” remarks
The Election Commission of India has issued a notice to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu for alleged derogatory remarks against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The TDP chief was issued notice on Thursday for purportedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during his campaign speeches on 31 March by allegedly referring to CM Jagan as “Monster,” “Animal,” “Thief,” and various other offensive terms.
