BJP-Chandrababu Naidu-Pawan Kalyan alliance finalised: Report

The BJP has finalised seat-share deals with ex-Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party and actor Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena, according to an NDTV report, citing sources. The alliance covers the Lok Sabha election and the Assembly poll later this year, with the national party likely to contest six to eight seats in the Lok Sabha polls and 10-12 in Assembly polls, added the report. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party dominated both elections five years ago, winning 22 of the state’s 25 Lok Sabha seats and 151 of its 175 Assembly segments.

President Murmu nominates Sudha Murty to Rajya Sabha

President Droupadi Murmu on Friday nominated author and philanthropist Sudha Murty to the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a social media post. Taking to X, PM Modi said, “I am delighted that the President of India has nominated @SmtSudhaMurty Ji to the Rajya Sabha. Sudha Ji’s contributions to diverse fields including social work, philanthropy and education have been immense and inspiring. Her presence in the Rajya Sabha is a powerful testament to our ‘Nari Shakti’, exemplifying the strength and potential of women in shaping our nation’s destiny. Wishing her a fruitful Parliamentary tenure."

On Women’s Day, PM Modi announces Rs 100 cut in LPG cylinder price

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced a reduction of Rs 100 in cooking gas cylinder prices on Friday. Taking to X, he said, “Today, on Women’s Day, our Government has decided to reduce LPG cylinder prices by Rs. 100. This will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti. By making cooking gas more affordable, we also aim to support the well-being of families and ensure a healthier environment. This is in line with our commitment to empowering women and ensuring ‘Ease of Living’ for them.  In a related decision, the government on Thursday announced the extension of Rs 300 per LPG cylinder subsidy to poor women under the Ujjwala Yojana for the next fiscal starting April 1.

PM Modi on two-day visit to Assam from today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day visit to Assam commencing on Friday where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects.  PM Modi will arrive in Kaziranga on Friday evening, and he will stay overnight in the national park, a UNESCO Heritage Site renowned for its one-horned rhinos. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, while addressing a press conference on Thursday said that the PM will arrive in the state on Friday evening and is scheduled to spend at least two hours in the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve.
