Targeting DMK & Congress for corruption and family rule, PM Modi said that both the parties are two sides of the same coin.
“DMK and Congress mean - Big corruption & one family rule. When the country got rid of Congress, the country reached 5G technology. But in Tamil Nadu DMK is running its own 5G- one family’s fifth generation to have control over Tamil Nadu…,” said PM Modi.
Talking about PMK’s entry into NDA, he said the alliance has got new energy.
“I welcome Ramadoss into our alliance,” added the Prime Minister.
Ahead of the April 19 Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu, the BJP has been focusing on the southern state, hoping to win as many of the 39 constituencies as part of its ‘mission 400’ seats in the coming polls.
PM Modi had addressed a public rally in Kanniyakumari last week, even as he has made a number of visits to the southern state in the past few months.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi held a massive roadshow in Kerala’s Palakkad to boost support for its candidates from the state, where the saffron party has historically had no significant electoral victories.
The PM arrived in Palakkad in a helicopter from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.
The roadshow covered the around one km route in about half-an-hour after which the PM quickly returned to the helipad to return to Tamil Nadu.
PM Modi’s Palakkad roadshow follows his recent participation at a public meeting in Pathanamthitta town on 15 March, where he rallied support for NDA candidates contesting in the southern Kerala constituencies.
Addressing the gathering in Pathanamthitta, the Prime Minister had said that “The Lotus is going to bloom in Kerala” in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and attacked the ruling Left and the opposition Congress-led UDF, alleging that the people of the state have endured hardship under governments plagued by corruption and incompetence.
The BJP has seen an increase in its vote share from the Palakkad constituency in the Lok Sabha polls with its candidate Krishnakumar C securing 21.24 per cent of the total votes polled from here in the 2019 general elections.
This was PM Modi’s fifth visit to Kerala within three months.
He has already visited the state twice in January, once in February and then on March 15.
These visits included both official and party functions.
