In a major security breach, an imposter pretending to be a trainee IAS official stayed at the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri Administrative Academy in Mussoorie, the training ground for the country’s civil service officers and a location that is supposed to have high security. What is perhaps more disturbing was the fact that she managed to stay on for six months without detection. The civil service recruits training academy learnt about the woman and her prolonged stay at the institute when she had already left on March 27, Dehradun SSP Pushpak Jyoti said. “Police are investigating the matter and at the moment we are not in a position to comment on this matter,” said Jyoti, according to this HT report. The matter came to light when administrative officer of the institute Satyavir Singh lodged an FIR in this connection at Mussoorie police station on Tuesday, the SSP said. According to the FIR, the woman hailing from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh arrived at the academy on 20 September and introduced herself as Ruby Choudhry, a trainee IAS officer and stayed there for a little over six months before mysteriously disappearing on 27 March, the official said. The SSP said a special team headed by Mussoorie police inspector Chandan Singh Bisht has been constituted to find out how the woman gained entry into the high security academy and managed to stay there for so long without the knowledge of the authorities. This TOI report also states that she had been living in the staff quarters that was originally allotted to a security guard, Dev Singh, who is a permanent employee of the academy and has been there for 20 years. The guard , incidentally, was served suspension orders on 29 March. Documents seized from the room where she stayed are being closely investigated, police said adding that the team constituted by Uttarakhand police will first interrogate Satyavir Singh who lodged the FIR in this connection. However, the “imposter” had been traced by today afternoon when she gave an interview to CNN-IBN stating that she is not at fault for her stay at the academy. She said, in the interview, that the deputy director Saurabh Jain should be blamed as he took a bribe of 5 Lakh to issue her a fake card. She also clarified that she was not absconding or evading the police. No FIR has been registered against her so far. With inputs from PTI
