Mumbai, the city of dreams, has an iconic history and life in the city has been captured in typical frames over the years. This particular story, of a group of deaf and mute children turned photographers, shows us a different side of Mumbai, captured through their lens. Shahin and Chetan from Koshish were trained in basic photography by Do Righter Pankaj Trivedi.[/caption] The Tata Capital team discovered ‘Koshish’, a school run by ENT specialist Dr Ajay Kothari (trustee) for deaf and mute children. This school tried to get the children to speak through many alternate mediums (Lip reading, graph method) so that they could express themselves in a creative manner. Two students were given basic training in photography, and once done, they were asked to capture the city through their own sense of being. The children, enthusiastic about the opportunity, managed to capture Mumbai in a whole new light, so different from the city we have always seen in photographs. Despite their handicap, they found a new passion for being able to express themselves and communicate with each other. You, the Do Righters have been supporting the Tata Capital team in supporting this endeavour so far. Now, again it needs your contributions to successfully complete this story by fetching Rs. 31,500; enough to buy two well-equipped cameras; a token that can give these children a chance to discover a new voice. The school will use these devices for vocational training to help them realise their dreams and think big. To read Koshish’s half-story in detail, click
