His smile will haunt me for nights: Delhi woman alleges TaxiForSure cabbie masturbated while driving

Even as the rape of a young woman in a cab operated by Uber is still fresh in public memory, a woman in Delhi has alleged that a taxi driver was masturbating in the car while driving her to her destination. The woman has detailed her ordeal through several tweets as well as a Facebook post  in which she described the incident involving a driver of a TaxiForSure cab. In her Facebook post, she recalled that he “had a smile on his face which will haunt me for nights to come.” She further described him as a “psychotic man with a severe chemical imbalance.” The victim was also quite scared about the driver knowing her address. “The driver knows my home and office, I feel threatened,” she said, reports IBNLive On her Twitter account, the woman later  said that representatives of the company met her and told her that they had fired the driver. However, she questioned whether sacking the driver was enough. The Hindustan Times  has quoted a company spokesperson saying that while the driver did not have any past record of misbehaviour, it has blacklisted him and terminated his services. Listing out the steps it has taken to ensure safety of passengers, the company has cited measures like live GPS tracking, an “Inform a Friend” feature and a 24/7 call centre team. In a statement, TaxiForSure said, “We regret the experience the passenger had, and we condemn the driver’s actions. We will continue to work closely with the passenger and will support her and the authorities in every possible manner, as and when required.” In December last year, a 25-year-old woman alleged that she was raped by a driver in a cab run by the taxi aggregator service Uber. Last month, another woman alleged that she was molested by a driver in a cab run by the same service.
