Nayab Singh Saini, BJP MP from Kurukshetra will be Haryana’s new Chief Minister. His name was decided during the BJP’s meeting on Tuesday held after Manohar Lal Khattar resigned from the post in morning.
Saini will be the chief minister of Haryana for next nine months before the state goes to poll later this year.
Saini will take oath around 5 pm on Tuesday at Raj Bhawan.
Saini, said to be close to Khattar hails from the OBC community. He was appointed as the state president of Haryana BJP in October 2023.

He became an MP from Kurukshetra in 2019 and after which in 2023, he was made BJP State President in Haryana.
With Saini become the Chief Minister of Haryana, BJP will now field a new candidate from Kurukshetra Lok Sabha seat.
Why Manohar Lal Khattar resigned from Haryana CM post?
As per sources, Khattar, who resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Haryana on March 12, will be contesting for Lok Sabha elections 2024. He is expected to fielded from Karnal.
Earlier names of both Saini and Sanjay Bhatia (MP from Karnal) were doing the rounds for replacing Khattar after he stepped submitted his resignation on Tuesday.
In Haryana, cracks appeared in the ruling coalition of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala-led Jannayak Janata Part (JJP) ahead of the Lok Sabha polls 2024 after their failure to reach a seat-sharing agreement in the state for the Lok Sabha elections. In the 2019, the BJP had won all 10 Lok Sabha seats.
Reports said BJP is unwilling to give 2 seats to JJP for the upcoming general elections and wants to contest on all 10 seats on its own.
A BJP central team comprising Union minister Arjun Munda and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb are in Haryana to oversee the changes.
The BJP claims to have the numbers to cross the halfway mark. In the 90-member Haryana Assembly, the BJP now has 41 MLAs, while the JJP has 10. The ruling combine also enjoys the support of six of seven independents.
BJP claimed that it has enough numbers - 41 MLAs, plus five independents, taking it past the half-way mark of 45 seats in the Haryana Assembly.
The main opposition in Haryana Assembly, Congress has 30 MLAs and the Indian National Lok Dal and the Haryana Lokhit Party have one seat each.
