Harshita Dahiya killed: Haryana singer's brother-in-law accepts involvement in murder

Days after Haryanvi singer Harshita Dahiya was shot dead by unknown assailants at Chamrara village in Haryana's Panipat district, her brother-in-law has admitted his involvement in the murder during police interrogation, according to ANI. Dinesh was produced in Panipat court and is being sent to four-day police custody.

A day after Dahiya's death, her sister Lata had alleged that her husband Dinesh had got the singer killed because she was the prime witness in their mother's murder in 2014 in which he is an accused.

On Wednesday, following Lata's allegations, the Panipat police had said they will question Harshita's brother-in-law Dinesh in connection with the murder after getting his production warrant from the court in Chandigarh.

The police applied to the court for a production warrant of Dinesh who was lodged in Jhajjar jail. Apart from Dinesh, the police have not made any other arrest in connection with Harshita's murder.

Meanwhile, a video clip of Harshita has emerged in which she is seen claiming that she was being threatened by some artists from Haryana industry. She had recorded a Facebook live video on 12 October accusing some people of threatening to “outrage her modesty”.

"Some people from our industry, our own artists from Haryana are threatening me via phone to enter into a compromise and delete the video, otherwise I will face consequences. I have not said anything wrong. Despite this, people are threatening me. I am not afraid of anybody.

"I will not delete my video...do whatever you want and I will not delete my live video. I am 'Jaatni' (belonging to Jat community) and I am not afraid of death," she is heard saying the video.
