The minister said, “We respect people from all nations and give them due dignity. However, there are some people, who are getting long-term visas to stay in India are involved in illegal activities. For example, Nigerians in Delhi are involved in drug dealing”, Hindustan Times reported. Ahir also backed the government’s decision to deport Rohingya Muslims. “The Rohingya went against the government in Myanmar, and therefore were asked to leave. They are now trying to enter India. We feel that the activities they are involved in are not in our interest. Those who pick up arms and retaliate against their own government will not find a place in India”,  The Asian Age quoted the minister as saying. Ahir’s comments come weeks after a Nigerian man was thrashed by a mob after he was allegedly caught stealing from a home in south Delhi’s Savitri Nagar. The incident, which was caught on video, shows the man tied up and being beaten as he begs forgiveness. The attackers can be heard swearing as they tied his foot to a pole and thrashed him. In March, a Nigerian student was attacked in Noida following protests over the death of a Class 12 student in a residential colony due to drug overdose.   With inputs from agencies
