PIL stands between Sanjay Dutt and freedom a day before release from jail

Sanjay Dutt who is all set to be released from Yerwada jail on Thursday has been slapped with a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against his early release, said new reports. According to Mid Day, advocate of a prisoner Nitin Satpute filed a PIL on Wednesday against Dutt’s early release. Nitin Satpute’s client Pradeep Bhalekar was acccused in another case and subsequently  jailed. [caption id=“attachment_2638272” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Sanjay Dutt. PTI[/caption] Bhalekar claims that there are  nearly 500 inmates in different jails around the state, that have been shown no leniency for good behaviour and neither are inmates in urgent need of medical help cared for, added the report. Bhalenkar has said that if the court finds his argument valid, he should be sent back to jail. The Bombay High Court will hear the petition on Thursday. Sanjay Dutt was arrested on 19 April, 1993 for possession and destruction of an AK-56 rifle. These weapons were part of the arms and ammunition which that landed in Mumbai prior to the March 1993 serial blasts. Dutt was sent to Yerwada jail in May 2013.
