Terrorist killed, army soldier injured in exchange of fire in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla; area cordoned off by security forces

Baramulla: One terrorist was gunned down in an exchange of fire that broke out between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. An Army soldier also sustained injuries during the gun battle. AFP[/caption] The encounter broke out in Malmapanpora area of Sopore town, which comes under Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. On specific information about the presence of militants in Sopore, security forces launched a cordon and search operation, a police official said. He said as the forces were conducting searches in the area, the hiding militants fired upon them. The forces retaliated, ensuing a gunfight, the official said.
