The Gujarat Anti‑Terrorism Squad (ATS) has thwarted a major terror plot by arresting three suspected militants with alleged links to the Islamic State (IS) who were reportedly planning attacks in India.

According to official sources cited by News18, the arrests were made following coordinated operations that disrupted the group’s wider network.

Investigations indicate that the detained suspects had been preparing to carry out violent acts in multiple locations across the country.

Materials retrieved during the raid suggest they were motivated by extremist ideology, and that their activities extended beyond Gujarat, signalling a nationwide threat. One ATS official described the module as “active and evolving”, adding that the suspects had mapped out several targets and were in advanced stages of planning.

The ATS further revealed that this is part of a broader shift in terror strategy: rather than isolated lone-actor incidents, authorities are now facing more organised modules that connect ideological indoctrination, signal communication, and operational readiness.

In particular, these suspects are believed to have ties to IS networks and were being guided, possibly, by handlers who remain under investigation.

Legal proceedings under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) have been initiated, and the suspects are in custody pending further interrogations. Officials noted that several incriminating items—including electronic communication devices, extremist literature, and possible weaponised materials—were recovered.

The Gujarat ATS has been working in close coordination with national agencies and state police to trace any wider networks and prevent further attacks.

Authorities are on high alert and are continuing investigations to look for additional links, funding sources and conspirators.

Who are the two most-wanted gangsters India finally nabbed in Georgia and US?

Two of India's most wanted gangsters, Venkatesh Garg and Bhanu Rana, have been arrested overseas. Garg was arrested in Georgia, while Rana was detained in the United States; both are set to be deported to India soon. Authorities hail the arrests as a major breakthrough against organized crime managed from foreign bases.
