Govt buses back on Andhra roads after a long two months

Buses of the state-run Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation hit the roads in the Seemandhra region after a gap of two months as employees called off their strike in support of united Andhra Pradesh. [caption id=“attachment_1168691” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Representational image: AP[/caption] Over 12,000 employees of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) reported back to work in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema today, to the relief of lakhs of commuters. APSRTC buses run 80.77 lakh km and ferry 154.63 lakh people every day. The strike, against the division of Andhra Pradesh, and also over some service-related issues, started two months ago. However, the employees relented late last night following assurances from state Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana and the top officials of the corporation. The services between Hyderabad and the Seemandhra region too resumed. The Seemandhra electricity employees and teachers called off their strikes this week, but employees of other government departments are still on strike. PTI
