Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday responded to the sudden resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, offering his best wishes and appreciating Dhankhar’s years of dedicated service to the country.

“Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji has got many opportunities to serve our country in various capacities, including as the Vice President of India. Wishing him good health,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The announcement came a day after 74-year-old Jagdeep Dhankhar tendered his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu, citing health concerns. In his letter, Dhankhar stated, “In order to prioritise my health and follow medical advice, I resign from the office of Vice President of India with immediate effect, under Article 67(a) of the Constitution.”

His resignation, coinciding with the opening day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session, has sparked intense speculation across political and media circles. However, no further information regarding his medical condition has been disclosed.
