Four naxalites arrested in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Kanker district

Raipur: Four naxalites, including a couple carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh each, were on Thursday arrested from separate villages in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Kanker district, police said. “The cadres were rounded up from two different places under Koyelibeda police station limits,” Kanker Superintendent of Police Jitendra Singh Meena told PTI. Agencies[/caption] Acting on a tip-off that zonal action team commander of the banned outfit CPI (Maoist), Santu Bui was staying with his wife, Jainee Komra, at Hetarkasa village, located around 250 kms from the state capital Raipur, a team of Border Security Force (BSF), Special Task Force (STF) and district force raided the place, Meena said. After encircling the village, the duo was apprehended, he said. While 13 cases were pending against Santu, his wife who is a member of military company’s section ‘C’, was wanted in four cases, the SP said, adding, both were carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh each. Subsequently, when security forces reached Jugda village forest while cordoning off the region, they spotted two suspects and rounded them up after a short chase, he said. They were identified as lower rung rebels, Lakshman Potai and Rainu Navgo, who admitted to their involvement with the outlawed movement during interrogation, the SP said. The arrested ultras are being questioned, he added. PTI
