Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will brief the seven-member parliamentary committee chaired by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Monday regarding the India–Pakistan military conflict that followed the Pahalgam terror attack.

The briefing, scheduled for around 4 pm, comes in the wake of Operation Sindoor, launched by Indian forces in response to the April 22 attack, which killed 26 people — most of them tourists — in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

This is the first time a senior government official will appear before the committee to formally update Parliament on developments following the attack. Although tensions escalated in the days that followed, both countries agreed to suspend military operations on 10 May.

Misri will address the panel on “current foreign policy developments regarding India and Pakistan” during sessions on Monday and Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the committee on water resources, headed by BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, is also due to be briefed by officers from various ministries on issues such as flood scenarios, riverbank preservation, soil erosion, monsoon relief measures, and management of transboundary rivers.

In a related diplomatic move, the government has decided to send all-party delegations to 33 cities around the world to apprise global leaders of India’s firm resolve to counter terrorism, particularly in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor.

According to sources, the delegation includes Shashi Tharoor, who will travel to the United States; Supriya Sule, who will visit South Africa and Egypt; Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda, assigned to Western Europe; and Shrikant Shinde, who will head to the UAE and Africa. Sanjay Jha will visit Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, and Malaysia; Kanimozhi Karunanidhi will travel to Russia and Spain; and Ravi Shankar Prasad will represent India in West Asia.

This initiative highlights New Delhi’s ongoing efforts to deepen global partnerships and expand its diplomatic influence across key regions.
