The Indian army remains completely aligned with the vision of making India a self-reliant nation, the Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande said on Saturday while speaking at Firstpost Defence Summit, adding that the technology is imperative for the nation’s security.

Terming the year 2024 as the year of technology absorption, General Pande said that there is a lot to do on this front to become self-reliant in defence. “Several initiatives have been taken to handhold the industry towards building trust. Technology is producing cutting-edge military hardware with modern technology. Currently, we have around 350 industries working towards fructification of contracts by 2025," he said.

With the new FDI policy in the space sector where liberalised thresholds have been defined for various sub-sectors and activities, it will greatly enhance the participation of private industry in investing in the development and production of satellite launch vehicles, he added.
