Firstpost is becoming a global news powerhouse, said Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani.
Highlighting the growth of Firstpost, Ambani said its subscriber base has doubled in the past 12 months and the platform registered 127 million video views in July. This made it the sixth most-watched platform among its peers, said Ambani at the 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the RIL on Thursday.
Ambani said that Firstpost is recruiting top talent to become the “definitive global news destination from India”.
Ambani further said that it is now time for India to reach its rightful place in global media.
“I believe it is time for India as the world’s most populous nation to assert its voice and gain its rightful space in the influential global media,” said Ambani.
Speaking about the broader Network 18 Group, Ambani said the business is reaching new heights.
“Our news business is reaching new heights. This is due to our focus on high-quality journalism. We lead in both general and business news. We are the only network in India with global ambitions,” said Ambani.
