Gujarat’s Junagadh is expected to witness approximately 15 lakh devotees for the annual Girnar Lili Parikrama and to intensify its surveillance and crowd control, police is using paramotoring to capture bird’s eye view of people thronging in for the sacred event. Why paramotor surveillance? The paramotor surveillance is being used to get the access to areas that are not communicable and do not have the access to vehicular transport, said Harshad Mehta, Superintendent of Police, Junagadh district. Mehta also said he personally oversaw the route using a paraglider.

The Lili Parikrama has started on Devuthni Ekadashi that was on 23 November and will last for five days before concluding with Kartik Purnamashi. What is paramotor? A paramotor is a non-fixed adventure sports glider which can accommodate only one person accompanied by a pilot while conducting aerial surveillance. It is equipped with wireless headphones and also has a 360-degree survelliance camera enabling to be effective in monitoring regions that are challenging to reach through traditional means.
