Mumbai: The engine and a passenger-cum-guard coach of the Mumbai-bound Amravati Express derailed on Thursday while entering the suburban Kalyan station this morning but no one was hurt.
However, the incident has disrupted traffic on the Nashik-Igatpuri-Kalyan section of the Central Railway, a Central Railway spokesperson said in Mumbai.
“Engine and one SLR (general second class cum Guard’s Van) of 12112 Amravati-Mumbai Express derailed while entering platform no. 4 at Kalyan at 04:50 am today,” a railway statement said.
Kalyan is 54 kms from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai.
Efforts to restore traffic are in full swing and many trains have been short-terminated, diverted and cancelled due to the derailment, it said.
